Det skotske forbund beskrev holdet således, da man offentliggjorde det:

Scotland will be without the services of National Championt Bruce Flockhart, but Chinese-born Yuan Wemyss is set to make her European Championship debut for her adopted country in Malmo, Sweden from April 13-20.

Flockhart turned down selection as he is due to become a father for the first time at the end of this month, although he will be available for the Commonwealth Games in Manchester this summer. For Dumfries-based Wemyss, who is the Scottish singles, ladies doubles and mixed doubles champion, the event is a chance to prove her Games medal credentials. She teams up with the 1998 bronze medallist, Sandra Watt, in the doubles.

Scotland retained a second division place in Glasgow 2 years ago, and will be relying on at mixture of youth and experience in a bid to improve on a 13th place ranking.

Alastair Gatt and Russell Hogg have both been mainstays of the Scottish team for almost a decade, while teenager Susan Hughes, a Stirling University student, will be out to clinch her first Commonwealth Games place.

Lochgelly's Fiona Sneddon, who became the younges ever Scottish cap when she played as a 16-year-old in the 1998 Europeans in Bulgaria, continues her comeback following the birth of her daughter, Anna, six months ago.
