England take European Silver

Denmark confirmed their position as Europe's top nation by beating England in the final of the European Team Championships in Malmo tonight.England again regained the silver medal place they achieved two years ago

England took an early lead in the mixed doubles when Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms won the first match 3-1.Denmark then took the next two singles matches, Andrew South lossing to Kenneth Jenasson 3-0 and Tracey Hallan being beaten 3-0 by the 2002 All England Women's Singles champion Camilla Martin

England's hope of a fight back looked hopeful after Jo Goode and Gail Emms fought back to take the third and fourth games 7-4, 7-2 The Danish pair rallied to take the final set 7-1 and with the Gold medal and Title they have won nine times in the last 30 years

Performance Director Finn Traerup-Hansen said" We new our strength was in the mixed and mens doubles events and the Danes were stronger in the singles, the women doubles was the key match and in the final deciding game they took more chances and took the match"
